Emergency Services Responsibilities
The primary function of the department is to provide fire, rescue and EMS response to the community. The department is very involved in providing fire prevention education, fire suppression and Medical First Response.
What's New at Station 86
We Purchased this new state of the art Pumper/Rescue truck in 2016. This truck responds to all medical calls and fires.

The fire-training center located behind the station was officially placed into service in September 2007. It is the only training center in Lenawee County that will facilitate live fire training. While work continues on the center to insure the safety of those that use it, our intentions of adding on to the center continue through the fundraising efforts of the Tecumseh Firefighters Foundation.
The center was paid for through the generosity of the citizens of Tecumseh and our friends at some of the local Foundations. Our annual calendar project, now in its 19 year, has been the main source of citizen donations. In addition, several Foundations have made grants to the Firefighters Foundation to assist with the center.
The center allows for real life evolutions to be conducted for new recruits as well as seasoned veterans. Some of the types of training that can be provided include:
- Live Fire Evolutions
- Search and Rescue Operations
- Rapid Intervention Team Training
- Confined Space Training
- Rope Rescue Training
- Hose Advancement
- Ventilation (horizontal, vertical, negative and positive pressure)
- Apparatus Placement
- Ladder Training
- Sprinkler Systems and Standpipe Operations (future)
- Repelling
Our future goals include adding additional containers, standpipe and sprinkler systems and to place a hydrant near the training site.
The site work was completed by department personnel with the assistance of our friends and F & S Landscape, Inc. and Slusarski Excavating & Paving Inc.
